Review What Light by Jay Asher

I am reviewing the ARC so things are subject to change.

Release: 10/18/16

Title: What Light

Author: Jay Asher

Synopsis: (Straight from the book) Sierra’s family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon- it’s a bucolic setting for a girl to grow up in, except that every year, they pack up and move to California to set up their Christmas tree lot for the season. So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other. Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other. By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb’s past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love. What Light is a love story that’s moving and life affirming and completely unforgettable

Rate: 4.5/5

My thoughts: I received What Light at Yallwest in april/may. It was the first book I had received at Yallwest. I was biased at first because I was like “Its Jay Asher, I have to love it. I don’t even need to read it to know I love it.” Sunday morning (5-1-16) I woke up like 3 hours before I needed too, so I decided to start reading it. As soon as I started I couldn’t put it down. I read every moment of free time I had at yallwest. I read 10 chapters on 5/1. Honestly on 5/2 I played hooky from school to continue reading and finished it. Sierra and Caleb are true goals. The scene when her tree gets cut down and she cries, it was so sad. Overtime they fought I was like no no make up and they did. So it kept me on edge with their relationship struggles. A+ for Jay once again!
