This weekend I attended yallwest in Santa Monica, California. It was the best weekend of my life and I am sad that its over. Already counting down the days till next year!
I arrived at 8 am, I stood in line until 10 when they opened the gates. I watched Rainbow Rowell’s keynote and got the wrist band to get her to sign. Saturday consisted of back to back signings. I brought 18 books with me and got 15 signed. I got signatures from Rainbow Rowell, Veronica Roth, Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl, Ally Condie, Gretchen McNeil, and David Levithan. I did not get to go to many booths on saturday, but I was lucky enough to score an ARC of What Light by Jay Asher (10/2016). I also scored an ARC of Our Chemical Heart by Krystal Sutherland (9/2016). I got a copy of The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury. I bought two books, Get Even and Get Dirty by Gretchen McNeil.
When V. Roth was signing my books, I fangirled and said “Veronica I love you so much.” She looked at me and kind of got a smile but like a weird look and said “Its nice to meet you too.” I legit died after I walked away oml. #embarassingmoment #embarrasedinfrontofVroth
I arrived at 9:30, sunday was my booth to booth day, and a few signings. I got signatures from Adi Alsaid, Marie Lu, Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl, and Victoria Aveyard. I received four ARC’s. The Women in the walls by Amy Lukavics (9/27/16), This Savage Song by Victoria Schwaab (6/2016), Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi (8/2016), and Spontaneous by Aaron Starmer (8/2016). I won Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman, The Young Elites by Marie Lu, and Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid. I bought Passenger by Alexandra Bracken, The Rose Society by Marie Lu, Summer lost by Ally Condie, Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard, and Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider. I have samples of Kids of Appetite by David Arnold, The Lifeboat Clique by Kathy Parks, The Last Star by Ricky Yancey (5/24/16), and the Glittering Court by Richelle Mead (4/2016).
The only reason I was able to get Young Elites signed was because I was sitting on a hill and I saw Marie walk by, I grabbed my book and a sharpie and went running. I then began to stalk Ransom Riggs and Tahereh Mafi at the end to get them to sign my books and I saw them and yelled Tahereh’s name but I couldn’t catch up to them. That was my yallwest 2016 experience. The pictures below are V. Roth and I, Ally Condie and I, and last but not least Rainbow Rowell and I.
